The Ravenous Pig "Flat Wall IPA"
16 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON" date is illegible
Notes via stream of consciousness: Upon cracking the can open I got a fairly strong citrusy, floral, and resinous hop aroma. The body is a hazy yellow golden beneath a thumb's width of white foam. To take a quick guess at the hops I'd go with Simcoe, Citra, and Galaxy but who knows? I think that gives you a little bit of an idea of what it's like. On to the taste then... I wasn't really expecting Galaxy but it sure tastes like it. The malt is basic, sweetish, and lightly bready. I'm guessing it's 2-row with some oats and perhaps some wheat. A stiff bitterness of around 50 IBUs balances it nicely and brings it to a dry conclusion with some citrus and resins lingering. The alcohol has a mild presence but is otherwise well cloaked, as it should be at 6.0% ABV. In the mouth it's medium bodied towards the upper end, and crisp. The head held up well and it's left some nice lacing about the glass. I'm not disappointed with the hops in this one. I don't know what they are but they're bright and bold. I'm going to have to look for more beers from the Ravenous Pig after having tried this one.
