I had this one at Crown Brewing on 3/22/2009.
A= This stout poured a deep dark blackish brown with a 3/4" dark tan head. The head slowly settled to a thin cap and left a lot of streaky lace down my glass.
S= This one smelled of highly roasted malts, espresso, and a hint of grain husk.
T= Sharp bitterness from the roasted malts was not out of bounds for the style, but still a bit jarring in this beer. There was also a very astringent quality in there that made the palate almost too dry and sort of unpleasant at times.
MF= Heavy body with a fairly crisp mouthfeel. Lacked the creaminess that one would expect from the style.
D= Not terrible, but not great either. Worth a try - I would visit this one again to see if I missed anything.
