Hammer? Not Heimer? That's the pun, right? Or is this named after a wise hammer, or a wheat hammer, or something? All this confusion can lead a man to hard drink.
Pours hazy golden with a nice white head. Smells and tastes way solid. Maybe a bit more bitter than your average hefe--more fruity tinged, like a twang, a plucked banjo string made of lightly acidic fruit esters, ending with a prolonged white pepper node.
My one complaint--kind of odd, I know--is that it's actually a little too thick for the style. When you ever hear of that, huh? But it's true. Sort of like drinking peppery banana fruit frosting. And that thickness obscures some of the flavor.

Tried on tap at the Brewpub, 13 Jun 2011. Served in a shaker pint.
Small light beige head quickly dissipates. Lightly carbonated. Slightly cloudy orange brown color. Aroma is dominated by cloves, some wheat and banana. Starts with a lot of clove and green banana. Slight touch of bubblegum. Light body, light ethanol. Some green banana puckeriness at the end.
Not sure if this is the same as the Weizenheimer.
