I was told that this particular edition, on tap 4/27/2012, was aged two years. The beer was served in a snifter, giving a black hue and a mocha colored head of about 3/4 on an inch. The aroma gave notes of strong vanilla, whiskey, and caramel. The initial taste prodcued notes of coffee, vanilla, and caramel. I have never gotten such a strong sense of caramel from a brew. It had the sweetness and caramel notes of something served at Starbucks. The caramel and malt flavor are displayed in the aftertaste followed by the warming sensation of alcohol. The thick texture allows the flavor to linger nicely. This is a superior beer!
