Bold City’s winter seasonal. Very bold, robust porter with a nice hint of smokiness.

Half finger head on a very dark brown black hazy body with nice lacing.
S: light smokey aroma but otherwise faint.
T: nice smokey flavor with a subtle sweet licorice note as well.
M: medium body and light carbonation. Moist finish.
Overall: this one isn't very memorable and though it is called smokey in tha name, it is no more almost than a standard porter.

On-tap at the brewery.
Pours one shade from black with a half-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving light lacing.
Smells of robust smoked malts with good amounts of roasted malt and unsweetened chocolate aromas backing it up. Also present are light hints of char.
Tastes similar to how it smells however the smoked malt flavors are a bit timid when compared with the aroma. Roasted and smoked malt flavors kick things off and are joined midway through the sip by mild amounts of dark chocolate flavors. Near the end of the sip the roasted malt flavors intensify before a solidly bitter ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.
Drinkability is good. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.
Overall I thought this was a well done smoked porter - it certainly has all of the assets. Worth a shot.

First smoked beer I have ever had. Maybe I would have ranked it higher if I was more used to it, but it was ok. Probably goes great with certain grilled foods.
Color: deep.. dark
smell: loaded with smokey flavors
taste: Very strong smoke aroma but not overpowerwing
mouthfeel: very tasty and it definitly what I expected
drinkability: not bad, I couldnt drink one after another though
