Good head production for the style and ABV, and nice retention.
Big bourbon notes, along with a roasty, slightly charred malt base. Molasses, burnt coffee, vanilla, oak, bourbon mash, toast, honey.
Very smooth on the palate, with a rich, chocolatey malt base, yielding to bourbon. Other tones include vanilla, brown sugar, syrup, molasses, toffee, caramel, and nuts. It comes together very, very smoothly; rich and creamy. A shockingly impressive beer from what is normally considered a fairly average brewery.
