Consumed December 30th, 2013 at the brewery. Noted as 7% ABV on menu board.
Very clear medium golden, lacking the reddish-brown tinge usually present in the style as I have come to know it. Small but enthusiastic white head.
Juicy, melanoidin aroma with a touch of pepper. Proper for style.
Flavor is sharp but fleeting. Lacks caramel, toasty malt flavors generally associated with the style. In fact, almost no flavor at all.
Mouthfeel is prickly and a little juicy, so that's nice.
This is like a macro brewery trying to make a festbier.
