Great looking dark russian imperial and great smell but to much raspberry in the taste and it kind of over did it for me. I think if they backed off on how much raspberry is in the taste it would be better

From brewery into goblet. Very thick dense creamy light brown 1 finger head. Jet black. Smells of roasted malt but way more aroma then most stouts out there. Taste is semi sweet chocolate then raspberry finish. Very well balanced. Not sweet nor over malty but mellow. This feels just about perfect. Smooth chocolate raspberry perfection! Surprised by the low ratings here. Show me a better fruit stout in Asheville? 4.50

@ Wedge
Typical amazing nitro pour appearance: black with a dense, milkshake-like head on top. Smells of raspberries over some deep, smooth roasted malt. Raspberry sweetness in the mouth, some chocolate, and very light roast. Creamy smooth mouthfeel finishing slightly tart and dry. Enjoyable and easy drinking for over 8% on an unusually warm and sunny February afternoon. This used to be a heftier 9+%, which I never tried, but I wonder if they purposefully dropped the ABV or it was just this one batch. I think some more dark malt would benefit this to balance out the fruit, especially some added roast. I imagine the nitro is also a factor in the surprising overall mellowness of the beer. I'd love to try it on CO2.

Draft at wedge.
Pours a dark black with a nice frothy beige head. the smell is quite big on raspberries...nice! taste is roasty with a tad bit of chocolate and only a tad of raspberries...not like the nose would indicate. medium bodied..not as full as a typical RIS. good carbonation.
Overall an impressive aroma on this one, but the taste doesnt follow suit. still a good beer.
