Bachman Avenue Bock

Found at the brewery in Los Gatos, this one-time special shows a light, clear amber/copper color with a decent off-white head and great lacing. The aroma brings vague rye clove but it doesn't make much of a malt statement according to my nose. The flavor is juniper alcohol with only a modest malt statement to my disappointment. It carries a medium light body with a slightly resinous supple feel. A quality brew in all ways but I'm surprised and sorry to get so little malt and a kind of weak herbal hop note. It hits your taste buds and is generally good, but just doesn't have any final message. A nice change up at Los Gatos, drinkable enough but that's about it.
