This cask stout has a very dark opaque black brown hue with a voluptuous light brown head and subtle lacing. The aroma brings sort of a nondescript, watery wheat, maybe a juniper hint in there. The flavor offers dry citrus hop over watermelon malt and just a hint of charcoal. I also sense a little red wine-like qualities. Generally it's much more tart than malty or sweet which is quite counter to my usual taste in stouts, especially an oatmeal. Typical cask, glassy feel, mid-bodied with fair carbonation for a cask. It's okay but not creamy sweet enough to suit my memory banks. But plenty drinkable and a pleasant enough whistle wetter.
