On tap at the Tasting Room. Thanks for the tip, Brian!
Pouring a very dark brown with a dense, brown head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks great. The nose is sublime. Intensely smoky, peaty, mildly briny and salty with tobacco and earth. The base Adam is obliterated by the Scotch, but goddamn, it makes me want to run out and buy some Ardbeg and Laphroaig and have me a jolly good time. On second thoughts, this beer has the potential to one up said Scotches by exhibiting a shocking absence of booze, so if you occasionally wish for the intensity of a smoky Scotch minus the alcohol bite, this is for you. The palate opens big, smoky, peaty, mildly earthy with flavors of unsweetened cocoa, petrichor. Sweetness is mild, almost imperceptible thanks to the smoky intensity. The only flaw I could find was that the palate did feel a shade thin on the finish, and served on tap, this was a little overcarbonated. Otherwise, this medium-full bodied beer was spectacular, with a long-lasting smoky finish. I nursed my 12oz pour over 40 minutes and could have gone back for a second or third, if I didn't have some place else to be.
