Brewed exclusively for Reed College's Renn Fayre festival in 2003. Members of Beer Nation headed down to HOTD and brewed it up with Alan in March for the late April festival. Reviewed from tasting notes:
Pours darkish golden, slightly cloudy, with a moderate creamy head. Aroma heavy of the spruce tips added in the fermenter, plus a light hop character. More of the same on the palate - spruce is assertive up front, balanced by hops and a generous malt profile after it sits in the mouth for a while. Mouthfeel is a little heavy, especially since this was supposedly designed as a session beer for the festival. Overall, pretty good, but given the atmosphere in which it was served and its heaviness, its rating suffers a little.
