The Raconteur IPA tells the classic story of American India Pale Ale with hops the protagonist. A hop driven beer in every way, hops are added throughout the entire brewing process from the mash tun to the kettle and even the fermenter. The classic "Three C's" combination of Centennial, Chinook and Cascade hops balance the caramelised malt profile in a way sure to give you a story with a happy ending.

Purchased at the Queenscliff Brewhouse in June 2024 and drunk a couple of weeks later.
L: Thick, dark, golden amber, with a spongey, off-white head. Lots of small bubbles rush up the glass.
S: The nose is thick, chewy caramel with dank, citrusy hops.
T: Rich, burnt toffee malts underlay a dank, weedy hop bite that kicks up the bitterness and hangs around retronasally, coating the tongue like a thick plaster coating of hops. The bitterness is medium to high, and the finish is surprisingly quick for such a sweet, malty beer, but the bitterness probably kills off the finish. Very nice.
M: The mouthfeel is soft and full. Carbonation and carbonic bite are low.
O: Another great throwback IPA from Prickly Moses. Their premium range of IPAs do a great job of standing out from the modern, tropical, mildly bitter IPA crowd.
Cheers!

Pours a burnished amber with steady bead. Fluffy head, nice retention. Looks great.
Smells musky and marshmallowy. Apple hints, peach and lychee with lemon sherbet on the back. Sweet, floral but also dry. Quite a pleasant one.
Taste is quite hoppy as well. Lots of passionfruit notes with sherbet, musk, lychee and citrus as well. Not much malt on there, just a light floral rosewater note upfront then finish is all hops, nice and complex and finishes with a pleasant citric bitterness, and a touch of pine. Very nice; I like a lot.
Bit sizzly, too much hop pull. Some more malt would really be appreciated here, just to add body.
Nice drinkable drop, lots of flavour but doesn't quite reach that flavour maximum threshold. Goes close, but doesn't make it. In some ways this is a bad thing, but it also levels it out at a drinkable level.

From Warner's. No BB. into Duvel tulip.
Pours a massive four finger head that fills the tulip. Amber in colour, head is off white. Fades to a film, but a plus is the clingy spotty lace.
Aromas are somewhat sweet. Many fruits in mix. Mango and sweeter citrus.
Flavours are moderate, and lack any real hops bite. Not a bad thing, and there is malt in the mix. Fruits noted include mango, passion fruit. Little resin, if any.
Mouthfeel lowly carbonated and oily. Almost creamy.
Overall, not really a hoppy beer. And it was fridged. And Warner's are dependable. Jury out really.

On tap at Beer Deluxe. From notes.
A - Muddy brown pour with one finger of fluffy off white head. A few spatterings of lace with a film of retention.
S - Woody, odd sweetness, citrus.
T - Strange and unfamiliar sweetness with an earthy and citrussy hop profile. Odd sorta woody flavour and a strange twang.
M - Good carbonation, light-ish body and not enough bitterness.
O/D - Sort of an off version of an intro to IPAs. Odd twang was offputting. Not worth the shot if you have experience with better examples of the style. More elements were off than on.

330 ML poured into a tulip
A-- Poured and settled a hazy, darker orange amber color. Off white but not light tan colored head. Kind of sort of grey in a way. Strange. Half finger of head that quickly went to film. Looked better on swirling but also fell apart quickly.
S-- Tropical fruit salad with some boiled hard candy. Followed but a quick flash of pine and then lots of lemon grass. UMMM can I have back the fruit salad part?? That was nice. Lemon grass?? Not so much.
T-- Flashes of real good stuff but turns to lemon grass very quickly. Like bad Thai food. Sigh.
M-- Body is pretty much correct for the style and the ABV. Good amount of oily residue in the mouth, spot on carbonation and feel, yet missing a whole lot. Incomplete and harsh lemon and grassy in the mouth.
O-- A step up for this brewery but a long way to go to get good yet. Nothing special, great, or worth revisiting.

330ml bottle purchased from Warners at the Bay and poured into a Mikkeller goblet.
Pours a copper & mahogany colour with a slightly off-white head of foam that turns to film after a couple of minutes.
Aroma starts with a tropical fruit note, some fruit salad and then turns into pine.
Taste is notable, quite bitter hop resin comes throgh. Not a lot else sadly.
Seems to do what it sets out to do with mouthfeel, bitter middle and finish.
Overall, an IPA that isn't really pale, let alone orangey in colour. Smell is the best part, downhill from there. A tad one-dimensional with the flavour.

This brew pours a murky mahogany hue with decent carbonation that leaves behind a two finger head that vanishes but leaves a nice rim of lacing, the smell is very nice with aromas of piney hops, citrus, peaches and dragonfruit, the mouthfeel is light-medium bodied and has tastes of stonefruit, bitter peach,paw-paw,orange rind, boiled candy and finished with a piney hop bitterness and overall a very pleasant drop from this brewery and i would buy again and have to commend this brewery as these recent drops they are releasing are very drinkable and better than past brews keep it coming guys.

Pours cloudy orange/brown with a short-lived head.
Nose shows piney, resinous and fruity hops with sweet caramel underneath.
Similarly hoppy flavours, lots of pine and peach with some grassy notes too. Underneath is nutty malt and a little caramel. Very bitter finish, quite sharp.
A good step up for Prickly Moses. The grassy character is unfortunate, perhaps an indication of too much dry-hopping?
