This big ass brown ale, like a classic 1950’s American automobile is bold, brash and great to look at yet totally inappropriate for modern times. This beer is fully loaded with German Pilsner Malt and a selection of roasted malts. Aggressively hopped, this beer is not your daily drive – it’s a beer to take out for a spin when you want to show off to your mates.

Purchased at the Queenscliff Brewhouse in June 2024 and drunk a week later.
L: Thick, somewhat hazy burgundy and teak in the glass, with a thin, coffee-coloured head. Small bubbles can be seen rushing up the edges of the glass.
S: Soy sauce, burnt brown bread, grapefruit peel, and dank citrus hoppiness. While that soy sauce note is probably a function of the beer's age, it sits well regardless.
T: Dark, burnt caramel with acrid, burnt crusts, minerality, and bitter grapefruit peel and pith. Bitterness is very high and lasts long after the swallow, but it is very well suited to the style.
M: The mouthfeel is rich and thick, carbonation is medium, but bite on the swallow is low.
O: This is a very tasty, aggressively bitter beer that was a pleasure to drink.
Cheers!

330ml bottle, poured into half pint
L - pours magnificent brown creamy head, 5cm. Slowly fades to a 5mm thick lacing. Very dark brown, virtually black
S - Getting chocolate mostly, hint of mocha coffee, nuts and vanilla
T - quite sweet upfront, with a bitter edge in the middle. Some dark fruits (raisins), toasted malt and resiny, acidic bitterness towards the finish
F - feels watery at first, but chewy finish. Moderate carbonation for style, medium thickness.
O - interesting brown ale - almost the feel of a stout, with the resiny bitterness of an APA. Very drinkable.

A tasty enough beer with dark roasted/chocolate flavours etc coming through well, however has somewhat muted hop flavours and a touch too much booze. Lacks balance.

Very dark, somewhat hazy brown colour with a small light tan head.
Rich and nutty aroma. Quite sweet. Some fruit.
Nutty malt. Moderate fruit. Some chocolate. Okay but something doesn't click.
Medium full body with moderately low carbonation. Okay.
Not my favourite beer. It lacks a little pizzazz.

330mL bottle from Slowbeer.
Chocolate brown with a large tight beige head. Great retention and plenty of lacing.
Plenty of coffee and light toffee malt, with lesser notes of nutmeg, vanilla and figs. Evident hoppy freshness that is vaguely herbal, but can't discern any specific aromas.
Oodles of chocolate upfront with a modicum of spice. Decent resinous pine presence. Nice enough but not overly inspiring.
Medium, slightly syrupy mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a mild lingering bitterness.
Expected a much bigger showing from the hops. Instead, it's mostly a 'safe' brown ale.

Pours dark brown with a large, lasting head.
Nose shows chocolate and roasted malt alongside spicy characters, hints of cinnamon and booze.
Flavours are pretty eclectic. Lots of roasted malt with some faint cocoa, but also heavy grapefruit and pine. The finish is a little chalky/ashy, and there's an underlying sweetness that's almost cloying.
Carbonation seems a little high.
The mix of flavours is a little brash but otherwise a good beer.
