This "jubilee" beer (not clear what the jubilee celebrates) comes in a standard brown half liter bottle wiht a pretty non-descript white, gold and red label featuring the brewery's coat of arms (a pair of cats holding up a shield emblazoned with a "V", and the German, Russian and English words for beer below. Ingredients include rice and sugar. Best before 6/3/04, I opened it on 3/21/04.
Poured a clear, slightly rusty gold under a very short lived 1/2 finger off-white head that left no lace. The nose is dominated by metallic hops. The mouth is heavy wiht sweetness and medium carbonated. The barley and apricot opening quickly yields to harsh metal and a touch of alcohol. The aftertaste is metallic bitter. There are worse Russian strong beers, but this is not top ten favorite.
