Tall tapered brown half liter bottle wiht a blue and gold label featuring the brewery's coat of arms and the slogan "Old Germany in the New Siberia." Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 9/5/04, I opened it on 4/9/04.

Slight orangish clear bubbly gold under a 1/2 finger off white head that settles to film quickly, but then lingers, fueled by the constant bubbles from the bottom. One line of lace rings the top of the glass. The nose is a touch on the harsh side, thanks to the metallic hops. The mouth is prickly and medium-bodied. This is a typical Russian strong beer - sweet malt in the opening, followed by some pretty harsh metallic hops, which dominate the finish, then mingle with the renewed sweetness in the aftertaste. It's drinkable, but it ain't great.
