Clear rubied brown with a thin tan skim.
Caramel-glazed nut aroma with molasses, vanilla and green herbs.
Begins fairly sweet with brown-sugared green raisins. Pools of caramal-vanilla nougat. Then it descends towards dryness. Those sweet hues migrate to brittle toffee and molasses, and it develops a root-like quality. Rounded from evident attentive lagering. Ends mightily hopped, full of herb and stems. Lingers on and on like some sort of sassafras-spiked tea.
Medium in build with low carbonation.
This is the closest stateside rival I've had to Uerige Sticke.
Truly remarkable.

Solid Alt...first thing I noticed was the "dry" tight finish to this...it pours a brown color...nose is soft....taste begins with a yeasty/doughy/bready presence but the dry hop finish really combines with it to make it quite tasty....Alt's are not my favorite style but this is a solid rendition..

The appearance is a glowing copper-orange. Crystal clear. Thin off-white head caps it off. Retention is better than average. The aroma is soft, but delightful... Pale and caramel malts. German hops. Vanilla. And the flavor followed through. Such a great toffee malt expression in this beer. And the smoothness was impeccable. Great understated maltiness. But the hops really add the finishing touch. A dryness and herbal character accent nicely. (Spaltzer I blelieve). This one was so damn drinkable. If I wasn't on my way to Milwaukee with my family in tow, I'd have had 15 of these fuckers. As it was, I had one (and grabbed a growler to go). Damn good stuff.
One of my greatest pleasures in life is discovering great alts. Because they are so far and few between and because they are just simply magnificient when they are found.
This one was just that.
