This beer had just been added to the tap line-up & I'm a sucker for rye beers, so it was an easy choice.
Served in a standard pint, the beer is a rusty red with a chill haze. It has a beige head with ok lacing.
The nose is of lightly roasted malts, caramel, some spicy rye notes and bit of apple.
The taste is slightly sweet with mice malt and caramel notes. There is a moderate amount of bitterness in the background which I think came from cascade hops. The rye notes are evident but a bit underpowered. Still, this is a decent red with a nice little twist.
The mouth is sturdy and a bit creamy. I think this would be easy to session and it went well with my beer, cheese and brat soup.
