This World Beer Cup bronze medalist (2000) is one of our most popular house beers. Sweet malt flavor dominates the taste, while caramel undertones deliver an enjoyable compliment. A highly drinkable beer.

Had at Brews by the Bay.
A: Poured a clear reddish-brown with a small off-white head on top.
S: Very sweet, loads of caramel and a but of earthy/piney hops.
T: Extremely sweet, especially on the finish. Some caramelized malt with a slight nutty flavor.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very clean and easy drinking.
O: A solid irish red ale. Not a style I drink a lot of, but maybe I should put it in the rotation more often.

Poured a clear, rusty brown with a small cap of white head. Light aroma, sweet and malty. Sweet caramel malts in the taste, toasty, nutty, with subtle fruit notes. Pretty simple, not much more to say. Medium-bodied, maybe a bit thin, but pretty good overall.

Appearance: clear copper in color with a nice two finger head. Some moderate lacing develops.
Smell: very mild caramel is all you can pick up.
Taste: moderate caramel sweetness, some ripe fruits, and mild bitterness. Not overwhelming on the tastebuds, but solid.
Mouthfeel: smooth from the start to finish. Medium bodied. Relatively clean aftertaste, just some maltiness briefly lingering on the tongue.
Drinkability: easy drinking irish red. When I order a beer in this style, this is what I expect - mildly flavorful and not complex. Worth a try.

Sampled at the brewpub. Presented as a slightly reddish-amber beverage with modest white head. Smell is very mild with a slight hop presence to be found. Taste is also very mild with a slight sweetness and a bit of hops. Finish is more dry than sweet, but nothing that really stands out. An OK beer, but nothing spectactular.

My first beer sampled at event in Delaware. Golden red/brown color. Really purty with nice big head. Smooth tasting but rather mild/weak. I'm not a big fan of the style and this beer didn't help "the cause" much...hardly better than a Killians, from my memory. Disappointing.
