This IPA is cloudy, very cloudy. The head is almost non existent and there is no lacing on the glass. The color is dark gold.
The smell is a powerful combination of stanky hops and lemon.
The smell sets up your pallet for lemon and pine but I get a grapefruit taste and a smooth, yet dank, piney finish. The after taste is classic IPA; pine and indistinct citrus. The malt is German and hard for me to identify. It is buried under a mountain of citrus, but shows up with the hops to soften the attack.
This beer is smooth. Carbonation is limited but present. Very soft on the tongue and aromatic in the nose.
This beer is a nice variation on the strong IPA. A combination of 3 citrus flavors (pineapple, stonefruit and lemongrass) help influence the powerful pine flavor and subtle malt. Great combination of flavors and mouthfeel. And at 8% it goes to work quickly. Stop by Stewart's Brewing Company in Delaware and get one.
