Had this with my lunch and it was pretty darn good.
Deep brown color with a fingers worth of head that did leave some nice lacing on the top half of the glass. Nice roasted malts, light coffee, and some hops in the aroma...though it could have been a little stronger. The flavor was solid with the dark roasted malts and hops playing off each other very nicely. Thin mouthfeel, with a bit of dryness. Very easy to drink. Another good offering from my local brewpub.

A growler filled on 2/10/2007 at Stewart's.

A: The porter pours thick and black, completely opaque, with a decent head on pour that quickly dissapates to a small white band.

S: The aroma a well-balanced mixture of roasted burnt notes and caramel sweetness.

T: The porter has a sweet flavor, highlighted by some caramel sweetness and an intense burnt roast malt character. The mouthfeel is a little thin, revealing just a bit of stale beer flavor. That stale beer component is often neglected in American porters. The staleness does not detract from the ale in any form.

M: The mouthfeel is pleasant, a little thin but enjoyable nonetheless.

D: The porter has two things going for it: a moderate abv and a pleasantly sweet taste. This seasonal is worth the trip to Bear, DE.

Great representation of the style. Poured a deep mahogany with a creamy head. Refreshing hop aromas, dark roasted malt- Hints of chocolate, coffee, slighlty sweet. Great use of hops- they work nicely in combination with the malt, and their large presence is welcome; their floral/citrus character is a tasty combination- like an orange flavored chocolate. Cool, sessionable porter, not heavy but very flavorful.
