From their description..."This pilsner is completely different; it's not a pilsner! You see, we think we put a saison yeast into it instead of the Budvar yeast. Otherwise, it was treated like a pilsner, cold fermented and hopped with all American-grown Saaz. What we have now is an extremely refreshing, sluggable summer beer that's crisp and hoppy, but with a spicy aftertaste. 6.2% ABV."
Pours a nice clear yellow with a bright white head. Some lacing remains behind. Very active bubbles rise to the top trying to retain the head.
The aroma is semi yeasty with a touch of banana and sweet fruit. Also, there's some earthy spice in there from the hops. Interesting, indeed.
The flavor was just as they attempted to describe it. Yeasty, spicy, fruity. More along the lines of a Pilsner, imo, but does have some of the Saison characteristics to it. I think the Saaz come through a little stronger than the yeast.
Light, crisp body that's quite refreshing. One went down easy, two probably would, but I don't think I could spend an afternoon with this one.
