Had this at Royal Stumble 11 at Nodding Heads in Philly. I think this was one of the quickest beers to be "tapped". They were offering a free 5lb bag of coffee to the person who drank the most. They also had a sign at their station that read "Any Amateur Pussy can drink light beer all day, come get a real buzz bitches" Loved it. Made me feel obligated to drink their beer only. 1. To support DE 2. I didn't want to labeled a pussy.

Poured a nearly black, with decent creamy light brown head.
Smelled like fresh roasted coffee and a little frappachino like. Taste is very similar to the scent. Java dominated with a very faint sugar-sweetness to it. Vanilla bean, milk, and burnt coffee. Nice and creamy, not as thick as I'd like, but not thin by any means.

Overall a good brew. Hope to see this at the brewpub soon.

Served on cask at Iron Hill Newark's Black & Tan cask event on 11/15/08. The beer menu listed this as Stewart's Highlander Stout infused with Kauai Coffee.

A - Dark brown body with deep violet hues and no head or lacing.

S - Fresh roasted java abounds with some sweet lactose and dark chocolate to balance out the bold coffee aroma.

T - Bold, bitter coffee flavor with a robust dark roasted malt flavor. Dark chocolate and vanilla cream adds a bit of sweetness to the pot. Finish is bitter, dark roasted coffee goodness with just a mild sour tang in the back.

M - Medium body with a smooth cask mouthfeel. Finish is bitter with a mild sourness on the palate. Body is a little thin overall.

D - Pretty surprised here. I'm embarrassed to say that I'd never heard of Stewart's before this event. This is a very nice stout with a fresh coffee aroma and lots of bitterness and authentic coffee flavor.
