On-tap at the brewpub.
Pours one shade from black with deep purple highlights and one-finger of off-white foam on top. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells of dark - but not roasted - malts with good amounts of dark fruits - figs and plums mostly with hints of raisins.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Dark malt flavors up front however they're not quite as intense as the smell intimates. Dark fruits join in shortly afterwards - as with the smell they include figs, plums, and light raisins. The ending is crisp and mildly bitter.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with active carbonation.
Drinkability is good. I didn't have a problem finishing my glass and could have another.
Overall this beer reminded me of a not quite as fleshed out version of Unibroue's Trois Pistoles. Very close to being a very good beer however even as it is now it's well worth a shot.
