750mL bottle into tulip. kept in my cellar for the last 2+ years. opens with a bang.
A: tons of carb. bright golden yellow body. head is massive. bright white. great retention. everything you would want a Belgian tripel to look like.
S: sweet. solid residual sweetness. there is some sort of vanilla/oak aroma in there. a minor diacetyl smell in the finish.
T: at first, most of the flavor is masked by the carb. as things relax, complexities began to show. minor biscuit linger. a little bit of rubbing alcohol is in there, a little bit too much as I continue to drink. a little bit of light fruit, pears. diacetyl is stronger on the palate than in the nose.
M: champagne-like carb on a medium full body.
D: there are only a handful of reviews out for this brew and ones of 'recent' have written this brew off for the most part. while this is not perfect, I certainly think it is better than the bulk of the reviews here. however, do expect a big beer, lots of carb, mild diacetyl, and not nearly as much fruit as most traditional Belgian tripel's. now that I am writing this up perhaps I should join the majority...not a great brew to start, could use a some more zest, held up reasonably, meh.

750 mL bottle poured a tulip
A- A clear golden color with two finger white head.
S- Sweet, candied sugar, bananas, definitely something that smells "off".
T- Not as sweet as the nose but still sweet, orange peel, earthy spices, slightly tart.
M- Light to medium body.
O- Tasty, but remember it being better when it was fresh on-tap. Probably a little past its prime, tastes slightly off. Even though it is old and a little off, it is still good to drink.

Thanks to ChrisPro for sharing this oddball rarity. Served in a BFM chalice.
A - A nice white foam settles to a thin collar, wisps, and some tiny spots of lace. Lightly hazed dark orange body.
S - Phenolic and peppery Belgian yeast, some vinous notes, and a tad chemical and tangy. Seems a bit 'off', so perhaps this hasn't aged very well over the past two years.
T - The taste is sweeter, without the sour tinge to it. More stone fruits, white grape, and perhaps some candi sugar. More pleasant than the aroma, but not very exciting.
M - Medium bodied, zesty carbonation, dry finish, and some slightly candy-esque residuals that coat the mouth.
D - The aroma is strange, and this seems to be developing a sour and vinous character. I didn't drink much of this one and wouldn't recommend additional aging.

Catch up rating from notes, 2012: Draft at brewpub.Medium gold pour, slight cloudiness, big, full head. Yeasty, floral aroma, a hint of coriander. Taste come sin with some buttery, grainy notes, Belgian yeast, herbal, savory spice. Pretty much on target for the style.

Pours a sunny, cheerful orange with a white fluffy head. The aroma is wheaty and phenolic, with a flat orange character. The flavor wheaty and hot, with an alcohol burn over the plummy, spicy taste, with a little sweet allspice and apricot and mulled cider. The alcohol is pronounced on the attack, but fades in the middle. It returns on the finish, which is sharp and like a poached pear. The mouthfeel is hot and prickly.

This Belgian abbey-style tripel clocks in at 10.0% ABV! I'm assuming this is a spin-off of their "Stumbling Monk" brew. Higher abv, not sure what other differences are going on.
Poured an orange gold color with a 1-finger white head. Not a whole lot of lacing to mention, but a little is left behind. Aroma was Belgian spice, a little on the peppery side. Taste was similar. A little sweet and a little boozy as well. Some banana in there as well.
Not a bad brew. I'd most likely order this again next time if it's available.
