First had: on tap at their brewpub
Poured jet black with a small cap of chocolaty head that retained fairly well and left a bit of lacing. Big roasty malts in the aroma, and a nice obvious smokey quality. Taste is of dark roasty malts and charcoal; pumpkin is barely noticeable, but comes out a bit in the finish, mainly when the beer is closer to room temperature. Very tasty and full of character, heavy-medium mouthfeel, not too overbearing in any way, and quite drinkable overall.

Brewed with two different types of smoked malt and a portion of pumpkin.
A - Served with a dark, black body that showed some faint ruby highlights towards the bottom...a one finger, light brown head formed and showed some decent retention...some lacing was left
S - The smoked malts really jump out...they also impart a roasted characteristic...I'm actually picking up a hint of lactose as well
T - For a brief second, if you really search for it, you can get some light pumpkin flavor right up front...if you don't catch it, the smoked malts set in...it's not a tiny presence, it's big...the smoke fades into a nice earthiness...after the beer warms up some chocolate starts coming in at the end
M - Medium bodied...dry, earthy, and big time smokey
O - I don't think I've ever had a smoked pumpkin porter before...it was a nice treat...minimal pumpkin flavor, but nice smoke presence...I wish I would get to try their cask coming up...Smoked Pumpkin Porter with chocolate and chili peppers!
