a slick black beer with a short coffee colored head. fades fast. the nose here is heavy roasted malts, greasy brine-like character from the oysters, and a light sweetness like molasses. the flavors align with the aroma, the brine is mellow, the oysters add a gelatinous protein sort of texture without adding as much flavor as they do aroma. the roast is the dominant flavor, but the beer is slippery in feel and goes down easy even without much carbonation. i am really starting to like this style of beer, but this is one of the least oyster forward examples i have tried recently. well made, but nothing special on the whole, except that it has oysters in it, which makes it special already.

A-looks like a Guinness. Dark brown with a nice creamy and sticky tan head
S-creamy cocoa. Extremely faint. Gotta dunk your nose finding this one.
T-good flavor of creamy cocoa with a faint hint of brine, especially towards the end. Becomes more and more faint as I drink it. No sourness though as I often detect in similar craft beers.
M-creamy much like any nitro dry stout
O-a simple easy going stout. Nothing excited, but nothing bad. It drinks well and for the long run.

First had: on cask at Yards Brewing Co., Philly, PA, for their 5th annual Real Ale Fest 2012
An Irish dry stout brewed with Chesapeake salt oysters. Poured a dark brown-black with a rich, foamy, tan head that retained well. Typical aroma of dark roasty malts, some coffee notes. Lots of roast in the taste, dark malts, coffee bitterness, balanced quite well with a subtle sweetness and an underlying brininess that was ubiquitous but never really came to the foreground, which is about how the style should be. Smooth, but a little on the thin side for a stout, about medium-bodied. Tasty and quite drinkable overall.
