Poured from the tap in Chester, VA. Odd BA says it's retired but the keg tasted fresh.
Aroma- Malt, caramel and hops.
Appearance- A really nice dark copper color. Had a large off-white head.
Taste- I really enjoyed the flavor. A good mix of malt and fruit.
Palate- A medium to heavy brew with moderate carbonation. Has a dry finish.
Overall- Very nice beer, one of my favorite English Brown Ales.

Poured a deep reddish-brown color with moderate tannish head.
Smell is loaded with strong dark fruit (plums, dates, raisins) and also some nutty character.
Taste is also very sweet, with prominent plums flavors also evident.
Finish is more sweetness, which starts to become overpowering.
A good beer, but not great.

I had this under the guise of Annie's Brown Ale on draught at Annie Moore's Irish Pub in Roanoke, VA. It was surprisingly dark in color, nearly Guinness black with rosey highlights. It had a thin tan head and average lacing. The aroma was malty with a little raisin. The flavor immediately noted charcoal with tangy carbonation. It has a pretty deep malt taste with some nuttiness. It is fairly drinkable but a little watery for this style in my opinion. All in all it is definitely worth trying and I would be happy to drink again.

Bought part of a mixed 6 sampler. I'm a big fan of Brown ales and looked forward to a new try from a east coast brewery.

Poured a good head that stayed put. Color was deep cooper and substantial. Smell gave off good caramel and nut. Slight smoke in the background.

Taste, while good this doesn't blow me away. Too bad. It is a good attempt at this style and would make a decent session beer but just not enough flavor either to hops and certainly not to English maltyness and "roundness." Especially when it positions itself as an English brown.

This was part of a "winter brew" variety pack, although I am not sure how it fit in. Anyway, poured from the bottle a deep, very dark brown with a tan, thin to medium head which dissipated quickly. Very little lacing but well carbonated. Smell was very nice with malty sweetness, some roasted/smokiness, and floral notes from the hops. Very balanced smell. Taste was pretty much the same with malt flavor taking center stage, followed by hints of coffee flavor and honey. Somewhat dry on the mouth but very flavorful. Would definitely purchase again if available as singles or six-pack.

Dark brown wiht minimal tan head. Nose was lacking any distinct discernible scents. Taste is ashy hop bitterness and, while not intense, was not balanced by any malt flavor. This beer reminds me of the Legend brown ale, of which I'm also not a big fan. Medium mouthfeel. Sessionable if you like the style. I'm thinking I'm not a fan of the style.

What to do when a traffic jam hits you on the way home from work? Stop at Capital Ale House for a Steal The Glass quickie.

The brown ale arrived with a thick and creamy off-white head that sits atop a deep ruby-amber colored beer. Lots of sticky lacing of the St. George glass. Aromas are malty sweet, with caramel notes dominating. Taste is similar, with a hefty foundation of malty, doughy sweetness with only a slight bittering by the hops. Finishes with a long-lasting toffee-caramel flavor. Mouthfeel is nice, a good palate coater. Drinkable, too. A good session beer.
