Clear amber, with a fairly well maintained collarfor its 9% ABV. The nose is sweet caramel, light date, and hints of banana. The flavor has all those, but they sit atop a decent earthy malt backbone. Alcohol adds a light bite during each sip, but a numbing tingle accompanied by a light astringency in the aftertaste that also brings some hop bitterness. The aftertaste is what doesn't work so well for me, dragging things down just a little bit.
