on tap at brewery, they quoted the abv at 6%
pours brownish black with a half-finger tan head
aroma is of highly roasted malt, coffee and some chocolate.
on the palate the beer is brimming full with rich roasted malt character. also quite a pleasant texture. it's lightly sweet with an understated hop profile, fuggles (?) finishing dry, chocolatey and refreshing.
the mouthfeel is rich and well balanced. slow finishing and a bit bright at the end.
all in all, a delicious porter. wish they all were this rich.
brays is doing the dark beers well. their oatmeal stout is not on the page here, but try it. a tad lighter in body than sam smith's but well balanced, rich and nuanced. cannot say so much good for the bitter which i thought was a bit metallic and awkward (as much as the spelling of the word itself.)

I sampled this brew during a recent visit to the pub. The beer arrives in a 12 oz fluted glass fairly cold. Exhibts a dark chocolate hue with some lite passing through at the edges. A sturdy surface layer of tan creamy head is present throughout sampling.
The aroma is roasted malt and some coffee notes with just a hint of dark chocolate in the background. First sip reveals an average body with fine rolling carbonation.
Flavor is sweet chocolate up front even some brown sugar then rolls to roasted malt finishes with some drying effect and no real l hop presence. A very easy drinking beer that could be sessionable.
