Liquor and beer, with beer towards the back. When we visited, there were a few racks of good Belgian sours, as well as a decent show of US versions. There were a few more widely distributed brands that occupied more shelf space than expected. Most of the IPAs were from local and regional brewers, and almost all were in a cooler, including many of the highly regarded staples. Other styles than Belgian, IPA, and sours were a bit under-represented.

Amazing selection of VT and out-of-state beers at great prices. Dude at the register wasn't particularly friendly or helpful, but I didn't really need any help so it wasn't an issue to me. FWIW, i met another employee of this store at The Alchemist the next day and he was super friendly and informative re: VT beer, so I'm thinking my vibe and service scores would be a bit higher had he been working when I stopped by. Nevertheless, I would make it a point to stop by this store when in Stowe. The selection was by far the best of any store I went to while I was there.

This is an excellent liquor store. Very good selection, top notch quality. Heavy on locals. If you are going to Alchemist, you should stop by and grab a few more for your cooler.

This is your best option for bottle/can shops in Stowe. Everything is well kept, lighting seems appropriate (not overly dim) but nothing beaming down on bottles that shouldn't be. Every time I've been here, service has always been good. Obviously, there's Heady here. This should be your number 1 stop while in Stowe for looking for bottles and cans to take with you.

I can't believe I forgot to rate this after our NE beercation this summer!
Otherwise known as Stowe Beverage, this place is known by many as a reliable stop for a Heady pickup, but it actually has quite an impressive selection of other beers from across the country and world that some of our bottle shops aren't able to get here in beer loving NE Ohio.
The kicker is this place is run by one of the most magnificent BAs out there. If you've already had the pleasure of being acquainted with him, there is no doubting he is the best asset to the store.

Solid selection of local beers with great selection of imports and other breweries from the midwest and from out west. Staff is knowledgeable and always willing to help. Prices are fair but there is no deal to be had over here. Parking is ample.

Great little store with a decent selection of local VT beers. Everyone will comment about the Heady, or lack thereof, when they go... but that is every store in Vermont, 2 hours after they get it. Do your research and go on time. Also, talk with Bob about some hidden gems, he really knows his stuff!!! It's a great place for liquor and wine, as it is a Vermont State Store.

Not a bad store, a decent selection but some with a noticeable amount of dust. Should you spot some rare bottles be sure to check for any dates! A nice selection of beer which echoes the other stores in the area.

Stopped here in Stowe on Saturday. Out of Heady (of course) but found some other VT options to pick up. Service was friendly and we had a conversation for a few minutes. Selection is decent for the size of the place (re: small). Overall the only package store worth visiting in Stowe. Show up early on Friday and get your Heady.

Little corner package shop in small strip shopping center. Beer section is on the left. They have a decent selection of Vermont craft and were a regular stop for Heady Topper before The Alchemist opened up around the corner. They, unfortunately, do not break 4 or 6 packs. But they do sell a decent cigar.

Decent selection of local brews as well as Shelton beers but nothing in the way of the elusives (HF (except La Vermointoise), Heady, Lawsons). Solid cooler selection of bombers and some six-pack options. Picked up a Lost Nation Gose and there was a decent array of Crop beers. You'l definitely find something worthwhile if you drop-in.

Very cool for a small shop, and they seem to always have something that surprises me when I go in (got some super cheap BA Biscotti Break and MOAS here once!). The owner is a cool guy to talk to, and he definitely knows what's up in the beer scene. HT is sold here, but as with most places, goes quickly. I always make a point to pop in here when I'm in VT.

Stopped in here over the weekend while in town for the HF Festival.
Atmosphere is pretty laid back. Quality was quite good. I checked out quite a few bottles and for the most part they were all either fresh or intentionally aged. Service was awesome. Bob was super helpful and he is a great guy too boot. I would describe the beer selection as adequate. It isn't the biggest in the area but it does have some nice bottles you don't see every day, plus they get heady topper all the time. Liquor Quality / Selection was also awesome, they even had some local offerings which is always a plus. Prices were on par with all of the other places in the area.
Overall if you are staying in Stowe, or passing through for that matter, this is definitely a place to check out.

This place is a great little gem of a store if you're in Stowe any time of year. It's small and has more wine and liquor than beer, but the beer selection is decent and the best in town. There is always a random selection of Belgians and domestics in the couple of small fridges, but most of the stock is on shelves at room temp. My most recent visit (August 2012) had a nice selection of Trappist beers (including Rochefort 10), Stone beers (including IRS and 10th Anniv Ruination), Founders (including Frangelic Mountain Brown), Rock Art, some Maine Beer Co., Anchorage, Jolly Pumpkin, Pannepot, and Peche Mortel. Manager is very helpful if you have questions. Overall selection is better at Winooski Beverage Warehouse and Hunger Mountain Coop, but this is a nice shop just down the road from the ski slopes.

Hit this place up numerous times over a week long trip the first week of December.
As others have mentioned, this is primarily a liquor store, but to the left is no shortage of craft beer. They had a bottle of Pliny just hanging out there which my partner and I recognized. The guy working sparked conversation "You know that beer?" And thus began a rather indepth discusion of beer that was revisited each and every time I hit the store during the week.
The selection here is very good for such a small place, and by far the best selection from any place else that I had frequented. Lots of local (and New England) love - Rock Art, Otter Creek, Hill Farmstead, Magic Hat, Switchback, and that day canned at the brewery fresh Heady Topper. I'm all about locals so that was what I queued in on - but there was a decent selection of other offerings and I believe some Pannepot was headed in to the store later in the week.
As I mentioned earlier, I sparked quite the convo with their beer guy - Bob while there, and he made sure to treat us right every time we came in to the store as well as give us great suggestions for places to grab a bite and a good beer.
This is definitely a place to pop your head in to if you're in Stowe as you'll get the best selection and great service in the area.

Came here after the bottle release and getting some Heady Topper at the cannery.
This is the place to buy your beer in Stowe. A liquor store first but they have a great selection for the area and much better that Edelweiss.
A few big bottles of DFH, some Heady Topper, lots of Belgian, English and German ales as well as lots of U.S. micros including Clown Shoes, Stone and others.
A word of caution though. I saw lots of dust on some of the beers, specifically the imports. Check your dates before buying!

Just about ten mins from the trails at Stowe. Smaller place with booze and wine. The beer is to the left as you enter. Decent selection of the Vermont locals. Surprisingly no growlers from the shed, which is cross the street. Plenty of quality national options from Stone, DFH and the like. Some extreme dust conditions noted so keep your eyes open. Cans of Heady Topper available, so how bad can the place be? Decent place to load up on quality beverages if you are lucky enough to be spending some time in this enjoyable area.
When in Vermont, I try to give the local offerings a good work out. Rock Art seems to keep putting out more bomber options. Heady Topper cans fresh from just down the road was a treat

Definitely a hidden gem in Stowe. I stopped by on my way out of town and was glad I did. Really good selection with a few rarities. It was July 2011, and I was able to pick up some '09 Allagash Victoria, Stone Lukcy Basatrd (released back in December and long gone from the beer stores I frequent), and some '11 Bigfoot (again, long gone). All were kept in the cooler and I can already tell you, the Victoria was drinking nicely. Also found some locals like Northshire Chocolate Stout and a some belgians including Trappistes Rochefort 6, 8, and 10. Not sure what the availability is like elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure we don't get Rochefort in NH. There were also about 10 bottles of Maine Beer Company Zoe which never lasts long around here. Also, lots of Stone with a big display. I guess there aren't many beer geeks up in Stowe which is great for those of us passing through. Service was very friendly if not terrible helpful. If you're in the area, you'd be a fool not to check them out.

We were directed here by the English Inne bartender. Great recommendation.
The place is quite small but it has some great beers: North Coast, Mikkeler, Stone, Southern Tier and various belgium beers.
The guy that was there was very helpful. He clearly knew his shit. He was able to point us to the good beers around the store and help us make our picks. He seem to also have a little cellar downstairs from which he takes out beer every now and then.
He had some Stone RIS 2008 when we were there. He had none left when we left the store :)

After having a few beers at The Shed, we walked across the street to the State Liquor Store. This place is located in the middle of a mini strip mall.
Upon entering, go to the left for beers. I found this selection to be pretty good. There is a nice cross representation of Belgium, English and American craft beers.
Selection highlights include Unibroue, Dogfish Head, Chimay, Foret, Ommegang, Weihenstephaner, Trappistes Rochefort 6, 8 & 10, Westmalle and Celebrator.
There are also some nice wooden shelves in the back left corner showcasing Stone, Rogue, Allagash and Southern Tier. This store also has local Vermont favorites like Long Trail, Rock Art, Wolavers and Trout River.
The dude checking us out was friendly enough, but our interactions were minimal. Certainly a good place to stock up on some craft beers when in Stowe.

Stumbled into this place on a vacation day-trip through Stowe. There wasn't a huge selection overall, but they carried a nice variety of New England brews in singles, 6-packs, and cases. Prices were competitive to others that I've seen in the area.
The liquor selection was nice. We were in from PA, where we tend to be really limited in selection and abused on price. Vodkas and rums seemed really inexpensive compared to Pittsburgh, where wines and Scotch were about the same.
The staff was delightful and really helpful. A lady was happy to chat us up on her fave local brews, and a gent stocking the vodka shelves filled me in on the latest and greatest.
