My first Abbey Brewing, guest of owner and brewmaster Raymond Rigazio, and it was kick-arss. A bock? It reflected the taste and aroma of substantial yeast and could have passed as a Belgium pale or even a double. Boozy alcohol, golden colour. Balanced, hoppy, as good as many Belgiums. Must try.

Crystal clear light carmel color, foamy thin light tan head. Smell starts very complex, very spicy start, some full carmel malt smells, then a faint alcohol smell. Tasted very spicy to start, like a strong Belgian Pale Ale. Actually, tastes likes a hybrid between a pale ale and a maibock. As the beer settled and warmed, more roasted full carmel malt tastes emerge. Smooth subtle, slightly thin feel due to the high abv (12%abv !)Then a noticable belly warming alcohol kick. Unbelievably complex beer for a maibock. Served in a cool 12 oz. thick goblet. They only give you 12 oz.'s of this at a sitting...the story is the locals tend to get to loopy.........I took a gallon 1/2 growler home. Too good to be missed....
