The beer pours a dark gold color with a thin white lace head. The aroma is decent. It is a light malt scent followed by a mild hop aroma. The taste is good. It is good balance and a nice malt palate. It finishes dry with some hops, but nothing too intense. It has a bit of biscuit flavor to boot which adds to it's character. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low/medium bodied beer with good carbonation.

Served as part of a sample tray at their brewpub. I was pleased to see an American version of the Altbier on their menu. Poured a deep and clear copper color. Small white head. A little roasted or toasted grains in the aroma with a definite nuttiness. Taste is bitter and nutty, almost tannic. The beer finishes smooth enough but, not as dry and spicy as some of itÂ’s German counterparts. Very flavorful. A well made beer.
