Hazy amber orange color with a thin head with decent retention.
Nice mild tropical aroma with notes of lychees, passion fruit, pine, caramel and grapefruit.
Flavor with notes of pine, grapefruit, oranges, caramel, spices, toasted malts, bread crust and resin. Dry aftertaste with lasting resin bitterness, but it feels lower than its 100 IBUs. Interestingly it increases over time as opposed to the usual otherwise.
Medium towards full body with mild carbonation. Alcohol of 8.1% is well disguised.
Decent grapefruity and resiny rather bold DIPA (not a hop grenade, though) with a good malt backbone.

Citrusy color with good lacing and head. Smell is mild but citrusy. Taste is sweeter than a lot of double IPA's in a good way. Sweetness does not overower hoppiness but mellows it. Good medium feel. A good brew, will buy again. First try from this brewery but will try others as they become avialable up here in Maine.

L; Pours a light translucent caramel amber with a dense head. Head recedes perfectly into a nice surface haze.

S: Smells great but with a slightly boozy sting. It's not a strong nose overall though, grapefruit, orange, hops, figs.

T: I really like this. It's that double IPA hop bitterness you hoped would be there but the citrus is at the front of the stage. It's just sweet enough to take the edge off the bitterness but not so sweet as to distract from the hops entirely.

F: This is how it is done. Perfect carbonation, nice soft and rounded mouth-feel (assuming they are into water treatments). Wet finish with a lingering citrus note.

I really like this DIPA, nice thick malty flavor to balance the hoppy richness. Overall a solid double that would be a great companion on a chilly fall evening.

My affinity with the DIPA's in general sorta ebbs and flows. Sometimes I (you) want the hops, straight & bitter and with a kick in the ass that a > 8% abv usually gives. Keep your damn malty backbone to save my palate. Alright. So, the first big swig of this, I smell it and I taste that subtle sweet of malt protecting me from the 100 IBU's percolating underneath. WTF...100? Man, I would've swore this did not exceed 67, but the can doesn't lie. Does it? Smooth Horny Goat. Smooth. That's just it. Carbonation is low, mouthfeel is slightly oily, and a tad (just a bit now) sweet. So, on this night when temps are dipping down into the 30's, this One Eye DIPA is renewing my interest in the malty, the clandestine hops, the balance that is tolerable in a DIPA and at a pint per can, is warming me up nicely.

I'm pleased to write the 4th and highest review of One-Eye. I like it more as it warms.

A - Pours hazed, golden-orange, with a half finger head that slow fades, leaves initial but later not much lace.
S - Mild aroma, which grows as it warms, into white bread with piney and tropical fruit.
T - The taste is big and sweet up front, and then the hop presence asserts to balance, earthy, spicy, peppery, piney and floral. Overall, earthy and fall like flavors.

F - finish offers long, lingering grassy floral hops with a resin and earth. Medium bodied, and oily mouthfeel.

Original and true to a one-eyed goat shaman.

Horny Goat One-Eye has a medium, off-white head, a clear, orange-gold appearance, thin lacing left behind, and few bubbles. The aroma is of hop oil (grapefruit and pine resin), with some white bread. Taste is of strong, but not particularly harsh hop bitterness, white bread, white bread crust, sweet malt, and citrus pulp. Mouthfeel is high medium and a bit oily. Horny Goat One-Eye finishes dry and, like so many, not the hop bomb that one would expect with a 100 IBU rating.

16 oz can. Pours clear golden-orange, finger head slowly fades, not much lace. Mild aroma, bread with some piney and tropical fruit present. The taste is very sweet up front but there is a good hop presence that shows up to balance it, hops are piney and floral. The finish is different, lingering grassy floral hops with a resiny character, a little odd, not bad though. Medium oily mouthfeel. Respectable DIPA with a different hop flavor.
