The color of this beer is essentially a shade of orange, but a thick red-brown sort of orange. It's also extremely thick and clouded. The almost-white head it develops doesn't get very high, between 1/2 a finger and one finger high, but it does have good retention and the lacing shows a bit of character.
Horny Goat beers tend to be one-dimensional; what they can't seem to get it character, depth, complexity or subtlety, going instead for blunt. I.e., this is a fruit beer, you get fruit and not much else. True, it's there (albeit lightly), but it's almost nil next to the fruit, which is both tart (mostly) and sweet (a bit) with an underlying grains presence. There's not a whole lot of variance between aroma and flavor. The main difference is that the tartness in the flavor leans overboard, more acidic and bracing. There's a touch of chalky yeast as well. Fruit beers can be hit or miss, often middle-of-the-road, and as such this beer's aroma is actually closer to average than anything, though the flavor doesn't work as well.
The feel is oddly thick, interesting for this particular beer and a little cloying and syrupy, while simultaneously the crispness bites a little too hard. They get a little tamer as it goes.

Ah brewed in Wisconsin just like Berry Weiss (my other craft berry guilty pleasure.

A - Wow I expected it to pour purple but I got a dark orange colored beer with a 1/2 inch of head that quickly turns to a decent lace ring.

S - Smells of raspberry puree syrup with sweet malts and a touch of corn.

T -It tastes very much like cheap macro lager (corn taste mostly) with just a tingle of raspberry flavors. I am actually kind of shocked that a beer brewed with Raspberry puree AND raspberry concentrate could be this understandingly bland. Not that great.

M - Medium and boring.

Overall even though its a summer beer I can guess it to be around 5%. Still for a CRAFT beer it seem like they put little effort and making it taste good, just threw everything in a pot and added juice and a chaser. Avoid if you can.

Hazy golden amber with thin pink highlights and a thin lace of white head. Subtle nose of raspberries, grainy cereals, some fruity pebble like wheat.

Quick, brisk, dry grainy bill up front, flash of raspberry, some sort of funky hop, bad choice for the beer. Tastes like a fuller bodied macro beer with a touch of raspberries and a flash of wheat. Not a very good beer, even a bit of detectable alcohol.

Not recommended at all.

LOOK: Amber colored brew with a soapy, slightly off white foam. Leaves good lacing and appears like a decent ale.

SMELL: Little to no aroma. Very light berry smell, but otherwise a nondescript nose with little indication of the flavor.

TASTE: Pale malts, caramel, faint wheat and a decent presence of raspberry. The flavor is mild and somewhat watery, but is generally unoffensive and appealing to a broad audience of younger beer drinkers and women.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium bodied, medium-low carbonation, smooth and a bit slick and watery feel.

OVERALL: A bland yet generally acceptable offering from the horny goat line. Flavors are OK. Not an inspiring fruit beer, but perhaps serves a purpose for some.

Amber body with a pink tinged head, fine speckled lacing wraps around my pint glass as it fades away. Aroma has some artificial tart berry aromatics, with some sharp wheat and chalky bread and yeast notes. Flavor is pretty gross, sharp acidity, cloying mess of berry jam, and chalky yeast cakes doesn't go together so well. Dry tart finish, berry puree comes off cloying, not a big fan of this light bodied highly carbonated wheat ale. Overall, not a good beer in the mixed pack from Horny Goat.

Coppery-amber with a thin white cap. No lacing. 2.5

Musty grassy hop, light wheat grains, and an uncanny fruit essence. I suppose you can call it berry, but it’s muddled. But, it still smells like beer. 3.5

Messy, musty, and metallic grains with an artificial berry flavor. Hardly recognizable as wheat, in fact, almost has the gluten-free sorghum quality. Watery flavor, old hops, filthy malt. No good, no good. 2.0

Thin body, normal carbonation. Cloying in the back of the mouth. Feels okay. 3.0

Rough brew. Anything but this again. 2.5

 

 

Appearance: pours a light yellowish orange color with a fluffy 2" head.

Smell: fake raspberry / strawberry aroma is all that you can detect.

Taste: mild malt profile here with a sugary sweet berry flavor that is overpowering. Bitterness is very mild. Reminded me of a raspberry soda.

Mouthfeel: medium body. Crisp throughout. Aftertaste is long as the sweet berry tones just don't leave the tongue.

Overall: hard to finish the glass as the sugary sweetness just was too much. The berry flavors were way too syrupy and sweet. Unbalanced and not refreshing at all.

1191 printed on the neck, "Ale brewed with raspberry concentrate & with raspberry concentrate added." No additional info.

A - Very slightly cloudy and mildly pink-hued golden amber in color with a tall bone-colored head. Good retention and spotty lace.

S - Pale malt and soft wheat give the immediate quintessential pale wheat aroma. Seedy raspberry puree is neither fresh raspberry-like nor sugary syrup-like. It's much fainter than I expected though. No hop aroma.

T - Aah, there's the syrup-like raspberry flavor I was expecting. Mildly sugary-sweet but not cloyingly so. No hop presence but a solid pale malt and wheat backdrop.

M - Just a bit on the sweet side in the feel, it's certainly no Berry Weiss (thankfully). Soft, medium-light-bodied and full of carbonation, it has a clean lager-like finish.

O - Truthfully, this beer isn't anywhere near as terrible as I was expecting it to be. The sugary, raspberry pie-filling melds decently with the wheat ale backbone. Not that I'd want to have it again, but I'm sure some ladies out there'll love this one.
