Clear gold/orange color, a little less than medium body. Aroma is not overpowering but I could definitely make out the wheat and watermelon. Taste was very similar with the sheat, cracker, grain coming through first. If you sip it slowly the watermelon becomes very apparent. It was decent, would really like one after mowing the lawn or at a bbq

Pours a clear orange yellow with a medium-thin white head. Head retention is poor with a few drops of lacing left behind. Aroma is watermelon, biscuit malts, and wheat. Very weak and thin aroma. The flavor profile isn't too strong either, with notes of watermelon, wheat, and biscuit malt. The watermelon comes in a little stronger a few seconds after a sip, but nothing crazy. Mouth feel is thin and watery with some harshness in the carbonation. Overall, it's a decent beer. The watermelon is good in the flavor profile, but doesn't show up much in the aroma.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

12 oz can. Slightly hazy golden yellow pour with a small pure white head. Aroma is cooked vegetables and mild watermelon. Thinner palate. Taste is like biting into the rind of the watermelon. Not good.

Poured out of a 12oz can into a pint. Had a great white head and excellent watermelon flavors. I only have one other watermelon wheat beer to compare this to and that's Hell or High and it's delicious. I like having this beer on a summer day.

DATE TASTED: August 14, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: 22 oz. Weizmann... OCCASION: watching The Hobbit as preparation for the school year... APPEARANCE: bright, misty, densely obscure orange body; head is off-white and thick at first, but settles to a few random slivers of uneven strands... AROMA: odd, funky notes that stray from the banana and clove promised... Instead, a sharp, cloying aroma that is musky and somewhat unpleasant... PALATE: fizzy, oily and smooth to the tongue; leaves the aftertaste that holds its dank citric warmth in the end... TASTE: the pineapple is bolstered by pear and apple, with mango and banana also lending service... the overall effect is flavorful, but the pineapple juice is almost crushing and obtrusive in its presence... OVERALL: the Laka Laka delivers it’s pineapple promise, and refreshes with a reasonable levity... Fruit beers are not my thing, and this leaves some rather blunt edges, but poolside, this beer might be in its element....

Bought this out of curiosity. Nice look and carbonation. Big thick fluffy head very little lacing. Smells great if you are into fruity beers. The taste was a lot better than I expected but it's still more of a novelty. Worth trying but I wouldn't go for a six pack.

I saw this can in a singles cooler and I COULD NOT RESIST. That led to a whole six pack of different brews and I was getting short on the ones I hadn't reviewed yet, so that was a good thing.

Appearance (4) : This beer pours a frothy, fluffy 3 fingered head, stark white in appearance. The body is a slightly hazy but mostly clear honey blonde color. Head retention is good with about 2 fingers remaining after the first minute.

Aroma (4.25) : This reminds me of some of the beers I got from the west coast. Truly a nice craft smell with some light and airy qualities. Sour, puckery hops, strawberry wheat, some honey, and fruit zest. I don't smell the watermelon, except for possibly a watermelon rind faintly. This truly is a beauty to smell. Bouquet is medium strength.

Taste (3.5) : Borders on the pale ale side of things, with a strong hop presence, and just the faintest hint of watery watermelon crispness on the finish. Within the body there's wheat, honey, and some sour sort of pucker, perhaps that's what they meant by "watermelon". If I had one gripe, I would tone down the hops a few notches.

Mouthfeel (3.75) : Creamy, lightly distorted, semi-dry with a hopped and ever so slightly sweet finish.

Overall (3.63) : I was expecting more from this. Hop heads, you'll enjoy this. I thought there was a bit too much hop and I was expecting a more malty wheat with a stronger watermelon presence. Not a cheer beer, mind you, but just something fruity and wheaty and well...I guess you can't have everything. It's good in its own right, but heavily hopped in my opinion.

not a lot of watermelon beers out there, and even less good ones. while this isnt astounding, its pretty cool. clear, which surprises me, looks nice from the can with an inch of white head, but it only lasts a minute. color darker than expected for a basic wheat base (or so i thought). the nose here is off a little, more rind than watermelon flesh, the can says it was made with the juice of the watermelon, but it doesnt come through in the nose. some honey does though, not sure where that comes from, but it smells like honey queen from sam adams. the nose instead is a sweet weirdly almost composting fruitiness, i definitely get the wheat too. the flavor is better, with the watermelon being there all the way though, not just in the finish, and not too much, its just an accent flavor. problem is, the base beer isnt all that compelling to me. clean and brightly carbonated though, and it feels pretty satisfying as a summer drink if you like the flavor. i dont love it, but i dont hate it either.
