Everything about this beer screams fall and I love it. The color even reminds me of fall leaves, golden orange. That aroma of spices stand out far more than most big brand pumpkin ales that claim to us them, though not quite as strong as something like Pumking. The spices come through in the taste as well, though not as strong as the aroma might have you expect. The flavor of roasted pumpkin and caramel come through as well. With all that in mind it's surprisingly light, I almost wish it were heavier for those lazy rainy fall days.

Served in an Ohio State shaker pint glass.

Goddammit it. (The label, anyway.) This stuff pours a hazy orange-amber topped by a finger of glowing off-white foam. The nose comprises pumpkin pie spices, caramel, and a touch of corn syrup. The taste brings in more of the same, the caramel drier and even a touch toasted now. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, not a bad pumpkin beer, really. Likely one of the best things with the Horny Goat name on it.

Toasty and rather malty on the nose. The pumpkin is a nice pumpkin bread with some balanced spice of cinnamon and nutmeg.

The front gives the perception of watery pumpkin and a tinge of spice. It ends in bitterness and tastes of black licorice and clove, two of my least favorite flavors.

For something that started so aromatic this did not transfer in taste.

HornyCopia Pumpkin Ale has a very thick, foamy, crackling off-white head, a yellow-gold-orange appearance, with bubble streams and powdery sediment evident throughout. Lacing is light and splotchy. The aroma is strong on spices (white pepper & cinammon), with underlying pumpkin pulp and malt. Taste is similar, with a noted peppery aspect. Mouthfeel is medium, and HornyCopia finishes crisp and refreshing, with the alcohol not present.

Appearance: A hazy amber body is crowned by a huge, dense off-white head, with astonishing retention. Belgian-style lacing adorns the glass walls. The carbonation is sligh, and slow-rising.

Aroma: Nutmeg and cinnamon are prominent in the aroma, as well as roasted pumpkin.

Taste: The taste begins with roasted malt and a surge of pumpkin spices. Cinnamon and nutmeg are quite notable throughout the taste. As the taste -advances, the spices rise a bit, providing a contrast to the solid malt backbone. Finishes with a lingering wave of pumpkin pie spices and roasted malt.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, quite full and pleasant.

Drinkability/notes: A very nice, quite drinkable, very pleasant example.

Presentation: Packaged in a classic brown glass long neck bottle, with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Nice Color a little hazy but not bad. Not the best head but ok.
The smell is not very strong little allspice and a hint of a burnt pumpkin pie.
Taste Front just a nice malty beer. In the middle get a good pumpkin, allspice, and a little cinnamon. The back side is like an after taste of a pumpkin pie.
All in all a good beer not the best but nowhere near the worst pumpkin beer I've had. Top 3 of the ones I've had.

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a very lightly hazed orange amber color with a one finger of white colored head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a great level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The beer has a nice spicy pumpkin pie aroma. There is a fairly large pumpkin spice aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice along with some sweeter aromas of caramel and brown sugar. Along with these smells comes some toasted malt and a decent showing of a roasted pumpkin smell.

Taste – The taste begins much less sweet then would have been anticipated from the nose, beginning mainly of just a roasted pumpkin flavor mixed with some more toasted malt tastes. While dry upfront, there are some light notes of sweetness of caramel that is present and with some spice flavors of clove and nutmeg, which are also present upfront, it produces a very smooth pumpkin flavor on the tongue. As the taste advances the sweeter flavors fade a bit, with more pumpkin coming to the tongue, but in a more raw pumpkin like flavor. This raw pumpkin brings with it some vegetal notes and is also accompanied by some more spice of a cinnamon and clove nature. These flavors take the taste to its end, where a somewhat oddly leafy vegetal and drier pumpkin flavor is left on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on thinner side overall with a carbonation level that was on the average side. The average carbonation was rather appropriate for the blend of pumpkin, spice, and light sweetness, but a slightly thicker body would have accentuated these flavors slightly better and would have helped to create a nicer mouth coating feel.

Overall – An OK drier pumpkin ale. A decent try, but there are certainly better pumpkins to go too over this one.

A: Pours a hazy golden orange in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation that rises from the bottom of the glass and some golden yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. There is a light to moderate amount of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of pumpkin pie spices - mostly nutmeg with a lighter amount of cinnamon. There are light aromas of roasted pumpkin over the top of slightly grainy and caramel malts.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of caramel and grainy malts with a very light amount of toasted malts, all with just a light amount of sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger flavors of roasted pumpkins. Finally, there is a light lingering flavor of pumpkin pie spices - cinnamon and nutmeg.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Relatively crisp.

O: Not a bad offering just not as rich and complex as many of the other pumpkin ales - not as rich a spice blend as some of the others.

A very good full flavored pumpkin ale, not to strong on spices but has a nice full pumpkin pie taste. Also I'd like to add that it has hints of pumpkin pie crust.I would be happy to drink more. The abv is where I like it be as well.Nicely carbonated and appearance is right on too. Happy to try a brew from Wisconsin.

Looks kind of hazed deep orange copper hue with a bright white head large bubbles formed. Fine speckled lacing lines the sides of the glass.

Aroma strong perfume note cinnamon sticks and all spice, super spiced in a bad way. Not much in the way of pumpkin going on here.

Flavor has a paint thinner like harshness going on, bitter lingering spice notes coats the palate completely quite the miserable beer experience. No signs of pumpkin just harsh medicinal lingering fusel alcohol and only 6.3% abv.

Mouthfeel is thin textured over carbonated pretty much horrible stuff. Lingering harshness from the harsh alcohol and perfume like spice or potpourri combo puts over the edge into one of the harshest pumpkin ales I’ve ever tasted.

Overall I’m into the style on a seasonal basis not something I would ever typically reach for especially this novelty line called Horny Goat brewed in Stevens Point, WI…just terrible.

12 oz twist-off bottle poured into an imperial pint.
6.3% ABV

A - Clarity through the deep pumpkin amber color shows the beer's carbonation, constantly feeding the billowing ivory head. Gobs of sticky lace clutch the glass after the suds subside.

S - HornyCopia starts off with freshly baked pumpkin and all that entails; crumbly pie crust, rich pumpkin filling, and of course the obligatory blend of spices - it smells nice - but an artificial sweetness, flavoring possibly peeks through behind, causing gentle concern.

T - Spice-heavy, the flavor immediately suffers from being far thinner than the aroma lets on. There's minimal pie filling, if you will - a loss of pumpkin flavor with just a bit of drizzled caramel sauce sweetness on the finish, punctuated by notes of plastic toys.

M - Crisp carbonation increases the beers' thin mouthfeel, which doesn't help the already thin flavor it's got going on but, despite the more robust spice level, it finishes pretty cleanly making it a more drinkable pumpkin ale.

O - HornyCopia isn't one of Horny Goat's worst beers; the aroma is nice and inviting but the flavor is lacking and just not quite as genuine. It may not be the most sublime fall beer but it seems clearly geared towards the masses and their insatiable desire for easy-drinking (read, quantity consumption) "craft" beers.

This beer when poured has a burnt orange color body with no head to it. The aroma is weak but has a slight presence of pumpkin and no spice. The taste is the same as the aroma, slight pumpkin and no spice. Mouthfeel kinda light and overall ok nothing special.

Pours a copper orange with a minimal foam.

Toasted malts, light pumpkin aroma, subtle baking spices.

Not really getting much of the spices in the aroma, subtle pumpkin, mainly nutty toasted malt sweetness.

Light-medium bodied, low carbonation.

Overall, not a great pumpkin ale. Pass.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, orange color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of pumpkin flavoring and spices. Sweet pumpkin flavor that seemed candy-like or synthetic. Minimal spiciness.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

The body is a murky burnt orange. A foamy cream colored head floats on top with good retention and the lacing is patchy, foamy, and hangs around for a good while.

Aroma is more muted, but a good dose of pumpkin pie comes out with traces of nutmeg.

Taste is like the aroma. A good pumpkin presence that is not dominated with spices, yet faint spots of cinnamon and clove come out.

The mouthfeel is slightly creamy, with a spicy finish.

Overall, this isn't bad at all. Nothing really jumps out either.

A: Very cloudy bright orange, yet no particulate residue to be seen. A small amount of head that recedes fairly quickly. A good amount of effervescence visible.

S: A great mixture of almost-fruity pumpkin and spice, pretty strong on the cinnamon, with allspice and a dash of clove as well.

T: Taste is the same as above, with the cinnamon giving it a peppery spice and a bit of added malt backbone, but after a few sips seems to get fainter. Still, has a nice lasting pumpkin flavor on the finish. Semi-sweet, but a few finishes lean towards being a bit neutral to bitter.

M: Refreshing, crisp, not overly effervescent.

O: Horny Goat certainly seems to have put a pumpkin pie in a bottle. Good balance of pumpkin and spices, and keeps it refreshing. A great representative of pumpkin beers.

LOOK: Pours a hazed bright copper color. White head forms and has some decent staying power to it. Leaves behind some spotty lacing.

SMELL: Pumpkin pie aroma of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom.

TASTE: Good gourd! Mild vegetative pumpkin notes, light pumpkin pie filling, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. There is an earthy, peppery quality to the spices, which are fairly strong.

FEEL: Medium bodied, fairly crisp, wet spice finish, thinner.

OVERALL: An average pumpkin ale, at an affordable price. Sure, it's a little heavy on the spices, a bit thin in a few other categories, but agreeable enough to be sampled off to friends. I had to try it, I just had to and it was alright I guess.

My local in-person trader, tone77, recently dropped off a huge box o' beer and this is another of that batch.

My pour netted a finger of fizzy, tawny head with only moderate retention. Color was a slightly hazy orangish-amber. Nose had a pleasant smell of cinnamon, clove and allspice. Mouthfeel was full, not quite creamy, but getting there. The taste was very pumpkin spicy and when I closed my eyes, I could definitely envision a slice of pumpkin pie. Finish was semi-dry with the spices really doing their thing, but enough malt left to keep it from being like alum. I remember not being overly impressed with this one back in the Fall, but now, on the eve of Spring, it tasted pretty good.

12 oz. bottle poured into SA Perfect Pint glass
A- Pours a thin, maybe .5 finger head, that completely dissipates except for ring on outside, light hazy amber in color, no lacing, barely existent carbonation
S- Mostly pumpkin pie spice, whats there isn't too bad
T- Light pumpkin flavor, some pie spice, mostly cinnamon, sweet and smooth but pretty thin
M- Pretty thin and crisp on the tongue, more carbonation than I thought from looking at it
O- There are many pumpkin ales out there that are much better, but it is one of the better Horny Goat offerings in my opinion. Looking for a light easy-drinking pumpkin beer that doesn't overwhelm you with spices then try this one

12 oz bottle poured into a Horny Goat pint glass.

Appearance- Hazy light orange in color with very little head that completely dissipates.

Smell- All the pumpkin pie scents. Clove, all spice, bready crust, and pumpkin.

Taste- Follows the nose exactly with some smoke thrown in.

Mouthfeel- A heavier mouth feel that gives me the sensation of eating pumpkin pie.

Overall- Spot on for a slightly over done pumpkin pie flavor. The little smoke reminds me of a burnt pie crust which i kind of dig as an extra layer of flavor.

A -- A subdued brozen / amber ale pours to a good two finger head, leaving ringed lacing.

S -- Heavy spice -- clove, cinnamon, nutmeg. Soft earthiness toward the end.

T -- Good malt body to carry the spice level, defintiely picking up on the pumpkin spices but not so much on the pumpkin. Solid spice level, not overpowering but definitely present.

M -- Mid - heavy body with solid carbonation, which results in a bit more drying and resinous characteristics.

D -- Good -- in balance and spiced appropriately while also possessing enough bittering qualities to subue the heady malt characteristics. Nice brew.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a large snifter glass.

A: Pours a copper-orange hue with a thin white head that quickly dissipates into a wispy lace.

S: Smooth pumpkin and all-spice aroma with hints of nut-meg and coriander.

T: Pumpkin flavor followed by the nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon, and all-spice. More sweet than bitter and finishes slightly dry.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: Decent pumpkin beer – not in the league of PumKing – but worth a try.

Appearance: Pretty color. A lot for golden than other pumpkin ales, as opposed to orange-brown. Good foam and lacing. Rather thick as well. Looks a bit like pumpkin puree itself.

Smell: Cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. All your standard pumpkin spices. Roasted pie crust malt also in there.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Strong spice flavors. Crisp mouthfeel. Full-bodied. I definitely enjoy this!

Overall Drinkability: A very good pumpkin ale.
