Sampled on cask at the Hay Merchant, Houston TX; April 2012
The beer arrives with a dense, creamy, darkly brown colored head. The body is a Black brown color. The aroma has lots of nutty, roast coffee like aromatics, as well as notes of chocolate malt, a touch of astringency somehow towards the finish; this reminds me a lot of some sort of nutty desert of some sort.

The flavor has a roasted note to I up front, but also some toasted nut notes that linger on the palate as well as some subtler, earthy, sort of salty like flavors; is there coriander in this, it sort of tastes that way. There is a sweetness to this beer, and this pairs quite well with the creamy, viscous body. There is an almost smokiness to this brew that is accentuated by the saltiness. There is also perhaps a touch of ripe cheese to this beer, and no sourness (one might get some of the latter in a traditional Gose, which this is obviously not). It almost has a wheaty, almost Wit like finish to it.

This is still more of a pecan porter than a Gose, and it makes me wonder if this is just a mix of the pecan porter, the wit and some extra salt. Still this is a tasty brew and I am glad to have tried it.
