Nut Brown Ale is brewed with bready English malts and water carefully adjusted to enhance and accentuate their hidden flavors. At 5.3% ABV and a little drier than sweet, this beer hits you with pronounced aromas and flavors of fresh roasted nuts, toffee, caramel and toast. Light and flavorful, the beer has medium carbonation, medium body and a clean finish that begs for another sip.

I don't have the most discerning pallette ever, but this seems to be fairly close to the style guidelines. Sweetness is present in the sip and the after taste, without much hop bitterness. And I would give it a bit of nutty-ness, offering some complexity. Really I just found it easy to drink and not too extreme in any one parameter. I bought a single but I might pick up a sixer if there's any left at my local grocery store

I had high hopes. 512 pecan porter is one of my favorites. Looks great. Nose is great. Taste is off sweet and sour. Should be more bitter and bready for an English brown.

A: Pours a dark brown, with some reddish color around the edges. A small beige head rises and recedes relatively quickly. Light lace is left behind.
S: All roasted malt aromas. Burnt toast, light coffee, a touch of chocolate. Pretty standard.
T: Again, all lighter roasted malt flavors, like the nose. Not full on Porter or Stout territory, as you would expect. Plenty of burnt toast, light coffee and chocolate though. Cereal grains as well.
M/O: A medium to full body. Good carbonation that is clean and finishes dry. Not hard to drink at all, I can come back to this easily.
Glad I found a six pack of this. Overall, I am loving the bottles 512 has been putting out. I do like this, but its much more American than they want to admit. Which is typical for most Brown Ales over here. I would really like some noticeable English yeast/fruity esters to balance out the relatively heavy roast for the style. Which is a complaint I have for most American breweries taking on English styles. Still I enjoy it, certainly not as much as Pecan Porter but its good. It will be a good sub when I want something a little less than PP.

I would call this (512) Pecan Porter lite. It pretty much has the same smell and taste as (512) Pecan Porter but is not as heavy. In fact, it's not heavy at all. Very drinkable and tasty.
