This luscious stout is brewed with organic coffee from Uganda, specially roasted by our friends at Trianon Coffee, and added as grounds to the boil and again as cold brew to the finished beer. Organic rolled oats, traditional English roasted barley, crystal, chocolate and black malts, earthy hops and just a hint of coffee, merge to create an almost mocha-like character great for anytime of the day. Enjoy!

Appearance: 5/5 - The beer's appearance is very enticing, with a dark and black body, rich tan head, and lacing on the glass.

Aroma: 4/5 - The aroma of sweet molasses, dark brown sugar, coffee, roasted malts, fig, and fermented red grapes sounds delicious and tempting.

Taste: 3/5 - The combination of sweet molasses, mild coffee bitterness, and crispness, along with fig and grape flavors, is appealing and leaves the desire for more.

Mouthfeel: 3/5 - The mouthfeel is on the lighter side, which may not be typical for a Stout, but it still complements the flavors well.

Overall: 4/5 - This American Stout seems to be a tasty and enjoyable beer, with a unique twist on the style. The description is enticing, and it seems like a beer worth trying, especially if you come across it on a lonely road Texas.

Appearance: A deep mahogany body, verging on black and utterly opaque, presents a massive and dense tan head, several inches in height, with excellent retention. The lacing is thick, fine-beaded and glass coating.

Aroma: A dense aroma of toasted oatmeal, coffee, and bitter cocoa presents. Notably absent is any hint of the considerable ABV of 8.5%.

Taste: On tasting, one is greeted with toasted oatmeal, dark malt, roasted coffee, and bitter cocoa, these flavors dominate the taste throughout. Along the way there is a little molasses and brown sugar, although this is restrained. As with the aroma, the alcohol is absent, other than a gracious moment of warmth. The finish offers a lingering note of cold coffee and bitter cocoa.

Mouth feel: Rich, full, soft and very pleasant, with just a bit of sharp carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: Just excellent, 512 has reimagined the oatmeal stout, and it is superb. Forget mimosas, this would seem to be a wonderful breakfast beer on a stay at home day.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a small head of tan colored foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a coffee aroma mixed with lots of oatmeal and a bit of bitter char. Along with these smells comes a little bit of a cocoa small and a touch of brown sugar sweetness. Overall, the aroma is quite dark and heavy smelling.
Taste – The taste begins as would be anticipated from the nose, with a dark roasted malt flavor mixed with lots of bitter coffee and a touch of molasses and brown sugar. There is a light cocoa flavor upfront, with this being lost as the flavor advances forward and more bitter coffee and some char comes to the tongue. There is a light vanilla sweetness and a some more brown sugar that develop more towards the end. All the while there is a rather strong showing of a oatmeal flavor, mixing with all the other flavors and leaving one with a very dark, and somewhat bitter, but overall balanced dark coffee oat taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the more thick and chewy side with a carbonation level that is moderate to high for the style. A little less carbonation would have been better for the dark and oat flavors, but overall, it did cut the bitterness a touch, so the feel was pretty decent in the end.
Overall -A rather thick oaty and roasty stout with a decently pronounced coffee flavor. Overall, rather enjoyable, and worth at least a try if the opportunity arises.

On-draught @ 512. Free.

Coffee lacks depth and character. Stout base is dreadfully simple...just chocolate malts and dark malts (no overt roasted barley or char).

Thick for its shallowness of flavour.

Drinkable. Not dazzling.
