Enjoy our full-bodied Lenten Beer from Ash Wednesday to Easter week, like the Augustinian monks did in days gone by. The Saaz hops that give this beer its particular taste are regarded as the world's best hop variety, thereby ensuring maximum quality for this "liquid bread". Try our Lenten Beer, if only for a short time.
It is made using Stadlau Pilsener and Kara-Dunkel malts, and Saaz hops by Barth & Sohn, Nuremberg.

FINALLY! Ever since the early days of my BA journey, I’ve known about this brewery and these special beers. Well, I had a chance to finally drink their Märzen last year and now I’ve timed my ski trip well to be able to drink this special spring/Lent/Easter beer. Bought a case earlier in the day (in a fancy wooden crate) and now enjoying vom fass from the wooden barrel at their brewery. Only €7,80 for a full liter! Truly incredible prices for beer in Europe but specifically Austria and Germany.
Quite dark, pours a fat head, a bit sweet and fruity in the nose. Flavor, body, and feel are similar, with a smooth and clean malt presence and properly hopped finish. Hoppier, breadier, and a good bit sweeter than their Märzen, which makes sense because this bier has to sustain monks through Lent. Absolutely stunning bier. Of the charts drinkability. Worth the trip/stop? Yes, definitely. Happy to be able to drink this for the next several weeks/months since a case is in my rental car. Special stuff.
