From a 2022 16 oz can sampled on April 16, 2022.
Dark brown appearance under a tan, fading head
The aroma is clearly dark roasted with elements of chocolate but little to no alcohol. Vague earthy hops.
High medium mouthfeel. Smooth.
The taste is dark roasted sweetness with a bit of chocolate but no alcohol that I make out. Nice Impy Stout

Many thanks to SawDog505 for this beer!
A - Pitch black pour with thick frothy, creamy caramel colored head resting on top. The foam sticks on the sides of the glass
S - Nice roasty aroma with chocolate and some light citrus.
T - Chocolate base with a resiny citrus hop presence.
M - Full bodied and silky smooth.
O - This one is an under the radar find. Seek it out and well worth a try.

Poured into a tulip glass resulting in a nice head with lacing. Smell was chocolate and some espresso. Taste was complex. Feel was medium body.

Well, my bad for not realizing the BBA aspect. I don't enjoy the flavor or smell of whiskey. However, I love RIS. So... this pours black with thin tan head that fades to nothing. Aroma is roasty with some of the booze-aged smell wafting around with a bunch of oak. Flavor is very similar, with a ton of barrel and whiskey dominating for me. Finish is a bit dry. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. This is everything opposite what I enjoy about something like Ten Fidy.
P.S. doubt this is "retired" as it just came in at Smoke 'n Barley this week.

The bartenders will call it a stout but I think it is more like a porter. Very great smooth taste.

On tap at the Flying Goose Brew Pub. 10/3/2015
Jet black, opaque color with a thick khaki head that was filled to the brim of the glass. Wonderful layers of lacing washed along the sides of the goblet. A kind of leather, tobacco and roasted coffee aroma rise from the glass but hints of oak are there as well as vanilla and bourbon. Flavor profile of this Imperial Stout is outstanding! A smoky ash with some leather and a dark cherry fruit reach the palate first. Then a nice, sweet, vanilla joins in with the woodsy oak and bourbon too. Some bitter roasted coffee joins in the fray but is somewhat limited by a marshmallow sweetness. Smooth, like velvet, and very drinkable; even at 10.1%, since the alcohol burn is not overpowering. Kind of "thin" for an imperial; but the Flying Goose got this bourbon-barrel Russian Imperial Stout right! Well done and so glad I grabbed a half growler of this to enjoy later!

Poured a 32 oz growler into a 16 oz snifter. Pours near pitch black with a two inch fluffy khaki head, that leaves behind some spotty lacing.
Smell is leather, tobacco, smoke, and hints of bourbon upfront, with hints of expresso and dark chocolate in the finish.
Taste is better than the nose, starts off with some leathery tobacco and gives way to expresso beans and a huge hit of vanilla in the finish.
Body is medium silky smooth, moderate carbonation, dry as you would expect, and easy drinking for the style.
Overall this is excellent. This brewery got me into craft beer 18 years ago and I still love what they are doing. Really impressed!

Russian Imperial Stout is a style I never get tired of. I had heard of Kongs recent release, and Alewife and I just happened to by going by The Goose on our way back from VT on 21AUG15. Sooo...... ;-)
Served in a snifter at $7.50, but filled to the brim. I reckon it was close to 16oz all in all. It was an opaque jet black, with a creamy, frothy mocha colored layer of foam on top. The head thinned a bit yet still left nice lacework behind. Aroma was not overly strong, but choco malts and bourbon were easily evident. Quite smooth on the tongue, it also had a medium+ body. Could have been fuller for the style, but still solid.
Tasted of dark choco, light malty sweetness, cocoa, some coffee. Bourbon was also right there in the mix without being a nuisance, as in some barrel-aged offerings. Had a touch of florality at the finish, which was on the dry side. The bitter choco did linger a bit, though. Picked up a 22oz bottle ($14) at the pub, which we split later that eve back home in The 'Zebo.... A solid RIS from The Goose.... Prosit!!

Well this is the first bottle release from the Flying Goose. This is a BBA Imp Stout and very well done. The bourbon is mild and not over powering. The great flavor of this wonderful Imperial Stout comes through and blends well with the BB aging. I had a pour at the pub and enjoyed it enough that I brought a few bottles home to add to my cellar but was impressed enough to enjoy another bottle last night.
