A pale, spicy refreshing wheat ale brewed with authentic German malt, hops, and yeast, named after the very first settlement of our area.

Poured into a pilsner glass and not a weizen glass, but I figured, well, close enough, I won't be too hard on them. The appearance was actually a copper color and not the normal cloudy yellow milky sort of look. The head was just a film of white foaminess.
The aroma had some banana sweetness, crushed clove and some sweet wheat. Ended with a touch of lemon.
The flavor was moderately sweet through the banana and wheat. Clove was there in a spicy fashion with some strength, but still maintained a certain distance from the "wanted" blend. Sweet wheat aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt decent. ABV felt fairly close to par. Finish was mainly the sweet banana.
Overall, not one of the most successful stabs I've seen by an American brewer to get this style down right. They have much better beers than this.

From a growler acquired at the brewpub. Sampled on July 8, 2011. The pour is a milky, cloudy pale yellow with a load of fizzy white head that diminishes quickly. There is an impressive wheat and vanilla aroma which makes the beer desirable. The body is thin to medium but about average for the style. The taste was a little disappointing after the initial build-up. Oh sure, it has a strong wheat quality as well as a tart citrus zing bringing up the rear. In the end though the taste could not compete with the aroma and look. Still, I would not turn one down on a hot summer day and it pairs well with the Flying Goose's big nachos platter.
