Thanks Joel! Pours a but fizzy. Sticky bubbles and a thin, wispy head. Light and clear light gold.
Smells very musky with an almost barleywine note. Slightly spicy with some dark fruit.
Too bad the taste doesn't come close. Thin and watery... where did the smell go? Feels thin and watery and is drinkable, but.... why?

Pours slightly hazed amber with a thick foamy head that slowly descends to a lasting thin cover. Slight traces of broken lacing stick to the glass.
The taste is of carmelized sweet graininess with subtle citric fruitiness.
The taste is of carmelized graininess and an ale-like fruitiness. Slightly bready yeast with some chalkiness comes through. Not bad, but more like an ale with a lager-type body, throwing it in different directions. Seems a bit all-over-the-map. Some tea-leaf bitterness comes through in a slightly tannic finish.
The body is light-to-medium. Some flavor lingers.
Interesting - quite a bit going on here for a lager. The flavors, again, seem all over the place and it seems like it doesn't know whether it wants to be an ale or a lager. If that were the case alone, it wouldn't be bad, but it comes close to all coming together for a satisfying brew, but falls short in the long run. Not bad at all, but not something I would look for if I were in the mood for a lager.
Thanks to jcwattsrugger for bringing this back from his trip!

09/05/05- Purchased at a wine and spirits shop in Jackson Hole, WY.
Presentation- 12oz bottle with a very cool depiction of an elk standing in front of the Grand Teton mountain range. Poured into a pils style glass. Best by box was empty.
Appearance- Light golden amber coloring, great 3/4 inch creamy head which stays until the end. Above average thick caking lace.
Smell- Toasted dry malt with a nice brown sugar sweetness.
Taste- Sweet and a bit bitter biscut flavored malt. Small amount of hops floating around. Leaves you wanting more.
Mouthfeel- Lively, but smooth carbonation.
Drinkability- One of the best lagers I have had in quite a while. Enjoyed it with a ground roast beef sandwich. Tasty beer and great after doing some hard labor (loading sheet metal from a huge grainary onto a flatbed). Wishing I snagged more than one bottle.
