AK Session is traditional English mild ale. Mild refers to its low hopping rate. Mild is an ale intended to be consumed in quantity, thus the name “session”. AK is thought to stand for “Ale Kyte”, Flemish for “small ale”. This is a tawny colored brew that was a favorite among the farmers and laborers of the West Midlands. The alcohol content is 3.9% abv. This beer is a collaboration between Chris Erickson and Cory Buenning.

Served in a pint glass with an amazingly creamy off-white head. The body was a very dark amber brown in color. The smell was light malt. Taste is an initial tart green apple flavor, followed by a bit of dark bread, and an earthy, nutty finish. Rich mouthfeel, low smooth carbonation. Overall a very good beer, though it could have been a bit fresher.

I had this on tap last night at the local Old Chicago.
It poured a clear dark amber brown with a small head of foam and had some decent lacing.
The smell had some notes of biscuit, light caramel malt, and a slight hint of some hop bitterness.
The taste had a nice biscuit malt flavour, not overly done, with caramel malt sweetness and very light bitterness in the background. A very nice flavourful Dark Mild..I had 4 20oz pints(served in the Guinness glasses); I wanted to get a pitcher after the first one but the server said..pitchers are only for domestics! LOL!!
Light bodied but not too light, it had a medium light amount of carbonation which worked well.
Drinkability? 3.9%abv, baby! Tasty and very easy to drink. I'll be drinking more until it is gone.

Had this great session beer from the tap at the brewery. If you like session ales, you will love this beer. Lower carbonation makes this beer easy to drink while still maintaining a smooth mouthfeel. Light brown in appearance, the beer leaves light lacing. Smell is slightly yeasty. Taste is bready. Their not kidding when they named this a session ale. I think I drank a keg of this watching the NCAA tourney.
