Served on-draught at Keesmann in Bamberg, Franconia, Germany. Serving vessel was a .5L branded hefeweizen glass. It was priced affordably (somewhere around 2.30 euro). Reviewed from notes taken early June 2011.

Not paired with food.

A: Pours a 1.5 finger head of no cream, decent thickness, and alright retention. Colour is a hazy cloudy orange-copper. Pretty predictable for a hefeweizen.

Sm: Clean estery fruit hops inclusive of grapefruit, lemon, and maybe other indistinct berry esters. Wheat as the base with traces of yeasty notes. Pretty standard hefeweizen fare with a bit more hop character. Some slight caramel comes through and maybe even some nut hops. A moderate strength aroma.

T: Wheat and cream comprise the foundation. Some hops. Nice cream on the finish. Pleasant, but a bit overdone. Complex for a hefeweizen but it doesn't add all that much to the roots of the style. I do enjoy it.

Mf: Smooth and wet, but a bit too much so for the flavour.

Dr: Affordable and drinkable, albeit less refreshing than most hefeweizens. A good example of the style brewed with some inspiration. Give her a spin. One of Keesmann's better offerings.
