A true beer hall with garden and ofcourse the lake. Still owned by one of the dukes of Bavarian Royalty. The most well known was Sissi the Austrian Empress. Others have described the place very well and must stop for both the beers and the palace.

Even if this place served only water, it would be an incredible venue. But luckily they make delicious beer. On a beautiful lake in front of a historic building in a cute town, this is a special location for a beer. Quite busy on weekends and holidays, it's still worth the trip.

A very nice location on a lake, relatively far from Munich (about a 40-50 minute drive depending on traffic). Very nice beer hall, authentic and everything. I believe Tegernsee to be one of the best helles lagers so it was a nice visit for me. Together with Andechs this is one of the nice visits to make if you have plenty of extra time (and a car) during a visit to Munich.

Good looking place: a big hall with plenty of large, wooden tables spread around, high-ceiling with columns and arches through-out. Loud and a bit smoky; typically German. Service could have been a bit better, perhaps, but it was getting busy during the lunch-hour. I wasn't overly impressed with the 2 biers I had. The Helles was so-so, the dunkles marginally better. As for selection, I believe they offered a 3rd bier. If you are in the area (a pleasant resort town on a lake) stop by. I wouldn't make a special trip here, though.
