My wife likes dark beers so bought it for her at TW&M and sampled it. Not bad in my opinion just an OK porter.

12oz can

Pours a finger of tan head into my nitro glass. Retention is pretty meh and the head fades within a minute or two. Lacing is nice. Body is black with some brown hues. Not a bad looking beer.

Nose is noticeably chocolatey with some underlying roastyness. Definitely a little sweet and it leans towards the desert beer side, but not overly so. Smells pretty darn nice.

The flavor definitely has some chocolate up front, in the middle, and into the clean finish Underlying roast plays nicely and does help provide some balance. This is pretty straight forward, but very tasty and not over the top.

Carbonation is medium. Body has a little weight to it, but on the lighter side of that spectrum. Definitely some sweetness, but it is balanced very well by the bitter roast. A solid mouthfeel.

Drinkability is great.

Overall a great beer - simple, tasty, balanced.

Nice deep chocolate brown the colour of press coffee or my dog who's name is Porter, ha. Initial head dissipates easily to a light dusting with a ring around teh edges.

Nose is dark roasted malts up front. Some dark roast coffee and blackened toast. There's a touch of dark chocolate in the back third, but then there's a really sweet note that reminds me of vanilla that's a bit overdone.

Had on tap. Black as the nightmare void with a tan ring with sheets of lacing. Earthy char and coffee give off light accents of dark chocolate, and roasted grains in the nose. Taste has more focus on the coffee and earth, but with dark chocolate and almost a dark nuttiness, slight metal on the back end cuts off the potential here though. Lower carb for a porter, maltly, roasted and decently heavy for style but again finish is messy. Meh

From Beer Drop. Canned August 16th.

Pours black with an inch of tannish foam.

Smells of dark and milk chocolate, roasty, bit of lactose.

Roasted malt, dark and milk chocolate taste, equal amount of sweetness and bitterness to my palate. Hints of smoke. This is really good.

Nice mouthfeel, excellent Porter.

Poured from can at fridge temp. Pours black with lots of cream colored head. Nose is burnt wood, dark chocolate, coffee, blackberries, and a bit of tobacco. Getting some nice roasted malts. The taste follows the nose nicely. Very smooth. Velvet chocolate, some chewing tobacco, coffee grounds, and a bitter wood aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a pretty good porter.

It pours viscous and dark, 40+, so carbonation is hard to judge. A mousse beige head floats atop with smaller bubbles- retained about a minute. Totally opaque. A noseful of baker's chocolate with undertones of scones. A touch of caramel sweetness and booze masked well. Esters of plum? It washed the tongue in liquid dark chocolate, that is only bitter afterwards. Appealing to both light and dark chocolate lovers alike. Mellow elsewhere, it is deep and drawn-out. there is however, a strange lingering astringency. With a mouthfeel of velvet and next to zero carbonation, one must be careful to sip this too fast. A campfire brew to accompany smores.
This porter is middle of the road for me. A little too heavy on the chocolate without other supporting characters. I enjoy the smoothness and low carbonation of a porter, with a subtle smoke, yet this was too much so. Good but not great.
