look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4
Look: An opaque medium orange on the pour, which initiates a white head to form and settle to a blanket, leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Pear, oranges, kiwi, soda crackers, some lemon, freshly cut grass, pilsner malt, and a kiss of honeydew melon
Taste: Starts out with oranges and some fir needles that develop nicely as kiwi and cut grass enter the fold and mix in. Light melon interplays with cracker-like pilsner malt in the middle and pear peeks in a bit too before closing with kiwi, citrus, and fir
Mouthfeel: Light but full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and clean and only a hint of dryness on the finish
Overall: I dig it. I personally enjoy when breweries toy with the pilsner base on a beer as I think it lends itself as a great platform to highlight interesting components – as is the case with this beer and using Motueka hops. It’s tasty and although I’m not well versed in the hop varietal, it is unique and works well here with the citrus, kiwi, melon, fir, and pear notes it brings
