This was the first beer I tried on my visit to Breakwater Brewing, and it was definitely my favorite.
It appeared light copper with a small, creamy head that disappeared quickly.
Though it wasn't much to look at, the aroma is nice. Notes of bitter grapefruit with floral and pine notes. The beer has a pretty respectable caramel malt backbone, laying a nice foundation for the hop artwork. As the beer warms it becomes more resiny and citrusy.
The flavor has a nice medium level of citrus hop bitterness, exhibiting notes of grapefruit, orange pith, and pine. The caramel balances the hops out nicely. The finish is dry and bitter, with lingering citrus. The alcohol is well hidden throughout.
North Jetty is medium bodied with a medium level of carbonation and a dry, sticky mouthfeel.
